Guys,
I have been running a portfolio site at https://www.dpixelman.com/
Now I am trying to trim down the site to a minimal design and functionality. Here is the working version for that https://www.dpixelman.com/?siteRevision=361

Any thoughts?

Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I am going to loose the underline for the link but keep the color to same ugly blue. I didn't quite get what you mean by the proper web address format! I should have mentioned earlier that the target audience is HR managers, who probably goes through hundreds of sites like this everyday, have only a few seconds to spend and cares only about if the person has done any real projects at all. That's why I am trying to strip it down everything. Obviously I am not making an unique site here. I am trying to ripoff a famous one's - http://karoliskosas.com/

The main point I am looking for is if people prefer this one over the existing one I have already.

Salam Zahid bhai.

From your description I guess you want our opinion on newer version compare to old one.

Definitely newer version is cleaner and modern in white theme. I liked how you have put the feartured projects in homepage with a little description. I wanted to know more about those projects (case studies) by clicking those. If those are confidential, you can put a lock icon next to title or image or simply mention- detail case study is available upon request/interview.

You also can list your responsibilities after the summary, such as - Research, UI design and Usability Testing or Graphic Design etc. Coz these days recruiters believe designing an app or website is not an one-man job, unless you have done it all by yourself. Still it is worth to mention. That will also cover your skill part which is missing from your old site. I guess you are coveting that in your resume.

I am viewing your site from my iPad. Found some padding issues. Screenshot attached -

Good to see you here again Zahid bhai . Please let us know if we can help with anything.

HR ম্যানেজারা মুলুত দেক এ exprience অ্যান্ড ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড, most of case তারা portolio গুলা বুজে নাহ।

The new version of your site is minimal but I think its a bit too much minimal to represent you as a top class Visual Designer. And also there are many technical problems in the site like Typography, Margin, Padding, Responsiveness, Image quality etc. I would suggest you to explore some awarded sites from https://www.awwwards.com and I am sure you will be inspired and learn a lot.
Hope to see a refreshed site soon.

Some good example for you

Best Practices for Resume Websites
  • Code your resume so it can be crawled by search engines.
  • Offer a button to download your resume in PDF so the hiring manager can add it to your file.
  • Keep branding consistent between the website and document versions: Use similar fonts, colors, and images so you're easy to recognize.
  • Be creative and authentic to yourself. Think about the colors, images, and media you want to be a part of your story that you couldn't include in a document resume.
Best Practices for Portfolio Websites
  • Use mainly visuals. Even if you're showcasing your written work, using logos or other branding is more eye-catching for your visitors.
  • Don't be afraid to be yourself. Your personality, style, and sense of humor could be what sets you apart from other sites!
  • Organization is key. If your portfolio is full of photos, logos, and other images, make sure it's easy for visitors to navigate to where they can contact you.
  • Brand yourself. Choose a logo or icon to make your information easily identifiable.

To be honest, those best practices all sounds great in papers but not sure how much effective in real life. There are no measurement data backing them. I did tuned my site ( the previously ) based on them according to my best ability but don't think it made any dip at all. Anyway, it feel its all just big words and no one knows what really works. All we have is some heavily self biased vague idea. Maybe that's the way that is.

Best practice / guideline - it depends.

First you need case studies to show design process, tools, your responsibilities, team collaboration, achivement/failure etc.

If you are applying for a mid-weight role I would say - case study + decoration (best practice).

If you are applying for senior role (manager/strategiest/head) then less decoration.

Just imagine, UX Manager from Amazon, who has managed a team of 20+ designers (just a guess) and worked there for last 7 years, what do you expect from him? case study? portfolio site? Just the CV and PDF Portfolio would do. That's why I said it depends.

So my suggestion is - once your case studies are sorted out then spend time on decorating the website / PDF portfolio.
