This is one of my favorite song but the meaning is a bit tricky. What I figured out till now is Jim is talking about death, obviously. I like the part where he explains death -

"They are waiting to take us into
The severed garden
Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful
Comes death on a stranger hour
Unannounced, unplanned for
Like a scaring over-friendly guest you've
Brought to bed"

In the next bit I think Jim tried to say how people live for afterlife more than reality, but in reality this is it. Afterlife is made up by the corrupt religious institutions -

"No more money, no more fancy dress
This other Kingdom seems by far the best
Until its other jaw reveals incest
And loose obedience to a vegetable law"

The final bit I think he tried to say how he wants to live his life with what he has, the people he holds close to rather than spending eternity with the countless others -

"I will not go
Prefer a Feast of Friends
To the Giant family."

As you can see a lot is missing. Give it a shot guys.

I love the part

and then the guitar takes lead and gives you wings and towards the end of the song, it throws you back to this sad boring world again
